What You’ll Do

• Lead by Example: Be a hands-on technical leader, contributing clean, performant code and architectural insights to our Python-based data and backend systems.

• Build Foundational Data Systems: Design, implement, and optimize our core data platform, including building and maintaining our data lake/lakehouse/warehouse (e.g., using technologies like ClickHouse, Postgres, and Kafka or equivalents).

• Establish Data Governance & Quality: Architect data pipelines using patterns like the medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers). Implement robust data quality, observability, and validation frameworks using tools like Great Expectations or similar.

• Enable AI-Powered Products: Develop and maintain high-quality data flows and backend services that power AI agents and analytics features—from building feature stores to designing agent feedback loops.

• Expand and Mentor: Help grow a team of backend and data engineers. Review code, set rigorous engineering standards, and encourage continuous learning and technical excellence.

• Collaborate for Success: Work closely with Product, UX, frontend, and QA teams to deliver intelligent, data-driven features with a focus on security, scalability, and user experience.

Who We’re Looking For

• Foundational Data Engineering Expertise: 4+ years of experience building data-heavy applications using Python (or Go). Deep, hands-on knowledge of designing, implementing, and optimizing data architecture components.

• Data Lake/Warehouse/Lakehouse principles and implementation. Advanced ETL/ELT workflows and event processing systems (e.g., Kafka). Expertise in SQL and high-performance analytical databases (e.g., ClickHouse)

• Experience with data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests) and best practices like the medallion architecture.

• AI & Analytics Awareness: Experience integrating with AI/ML models or agents, and a passion for building robust data platforms that enable intelligent decision-making and insights.

• Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to mentor team members, drive architectural decisions (especially related to data modeling and scalability), and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.

• Cloud & DevOps Know-How: Proficiency with AWS (or similar), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform) to support scalable data deployments.

• Product Collaboration: Comfortable working alongside product teams to shape roadmaps, align on priorities, and deliver features iteratively.
