Who are we?

We are an AI-powered building inspection platform that creates software to inspect every building in the world for a circular and sustainable future.

We gather thousands of images and maps from a variety of sources, so you can see properties from every angle. Our product started out as a tool for inspecting buildings by using drones. Now, we use over nine image sources, ranging from humans to satellites in order to analyze entire building portfolios in minutes. Our goal is to have all of the buildings in the world managed and inspected by Spotr!

About the job

Do you get a kick out of inspecting every building on the planet? Spotr is a scale-up with a global ambition. We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer who wants to join us on this mission.

Our customers use Spotr to gain insights into their portfolio of buildings, with which they can optimize maintenance and sustainability planning. We gather raw data from various sources and transform it into something they can use to keep their properties sustainable, healthy, and secure.

You will be working on designing and developing our next-generation data platform that collects raw data, processes and transforms it into usable data, assesses and monitors its quality, and makes it available to our customers and fellow engineers. The data you collect includes images from various sources, LIDAR point cloud data, governmental metadata, and building footprints. You will use technologies like Python and PostgreSQL while leveraging the power of the AWS cloud to make a scalable system that can scale with our ambitions. In addition, you will utilize various database systems to transform the data and work with our machine-learning models to extract insights.

You will be working in a multidisciplinary team in their two-week scrum cycle.

Requirements

You are a pragmatic problem-solver. You don't mind a high pace and regular changes and enjoy an incremental approach to engineering. You can write maintainable, simple code that solves the customers' needs. As a senior, you can shape the development direction and help guide your teammates. You're able to suggest solutions and challenge the status quo. You are fluent in English and have excellent communication skills.

You thrive in a start-up/scale-up environment where sharing ideas is embraced.

We're seeking someone with at least 5 years of relevant engineering experience. In addition, candidates should have working experience with one of the major cloud platforms and understand ETL/ELT, SQL, and/or NoSQL databases and the design and orchestration of complex data pipelines using Python. Finally, assessing and monitoring data quality is essential to instill trust, so experience is necessary.

Being comfortable with one of the following technologies is a plus;

• Airflow, DBT

• Great Expectations or other Data Quality platforms

• PostgreSQL / PostGIS

• AWS (StepFunctions, Lambda, Cloud formation)

• Experience with novel data engineering concepts such as Data Mesh
